Manchester Man Peter Hook, founder of JOY Division / NEW Order, someone who inspired us in music and in business. We gave Hooky and these local Manchester lads some of our JOYO gear to try out. We put the gear to test at the famous Manchester Ritz nightclub and music venue, donating a couple of JOYO T shirts (to save on their tour laundry expenses) and also some more great JOYO gear for them to try out in the studio.

Peter Hook and the Light took the JOYO on tour from Manchester to Hawaii on their 2014 South and North American tour, we think they liked it. Not only was Hooky spotted looking on top form and flinging his JOYO Audio Tshirt into the crowd, Hooky tells us we've got some good pedals and we think he knows what he's talking about. Hooky has been using The JOYO D SEED, he says it is a particularly robust pedal and was used throughout the tour with the JOYO JP-O2 power supply, powering a range of other pedals we wont mention. So robust is the JOYO D-seed delay, an amp fell on it in true Rock n'roll tour fashion, but the pedal stayed consistently on top form and in use.

Music gives us an additional voice, to share, create, enjoy and learn from. It is a skill that takes a long time to master, a long term investment that eventually brings about change. The JOYO guitar effects and accessories are designed to encourage users into a world of tonal discovery, equip them on their personal journey. Education is a key component of our business. Manchester boasts a long list of influential musicians, who's music has reached a global audience, spreading the Manchester passion. Manchester itself is proven as a hotbed for radical ideas, a self belief that remains true in the people, the music and in business.

About Manchester & China

Manchester had an impressive music scene before 1976, with groups like The Hollies, The Bee Gees, Herman's Hermits, Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders, Freddie and the Dreamers in the 1960s and Barclay James Harvest and 10cc in the early 1970s. Manchester was also the site of the world's first railway station and is where scientists first split the atom, developed the first stored-program computer. Manchester is also regarded as the birthplace of women's suffrage in the United Kingdom, and both capitalism and communism. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels began to write the Communist Manifesto at Chetham Library, the oldest public library in the English-speaking world.

Manchester has formal twinning arrangements (or "friendship agreements") and is twinned with the Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, People's Republic of China by the British Council in 1986. Chinatown in Manchester, England is an ethnic enclave in the city centre. It is the second largest Chinatown in the United Kingdom and the third largest in Europe. It has an archway on Faulkner Street which was completed in 1987 and contains many Chinese restaurants, shops, bakeries and supermarkets .

Manchester Music
On 4 June 1976, at the invitation of Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks, the Sex Pistols played at the Lesser Free Trade Hall. In an audience of fewer than 42 people, several key members of Manchester's future music scene were present: Tony Wilson , Peter Hook, Bernard Sumner (The Haçienda, Joy Division and New Order), Morrissey later to form The Smiths with Johnny Marr, producer Martin Hannett, Mark E Smith of The Fall, Paul Morley later to become an influential music journalist and Mick Hucknall of Simply Red.

A new musical scene and creative movement developed around Joy Division and New Order via The Haçienda night club (part of the Factory Records empire), creating what would become known as the Madchester scene, the main proponents being Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets, Northside and The Stone Roses. The Madchester music scene over this period has since reached people and places inspired by the era and the music.

Peter Hook & The Light
"PleasePeter Hook, is the co-founder of the seminal post-punk band Joy Division along with Bernard Sumner in the mid-1970s. Following the death of lead singer Ian Curtis, the band reformed as the modern rock band, New Order, and Hook played bass with them until his departure in 2007.

'Hooky' co-owned the Manchester Haçienda.  A nightclub and music venue in Manchester, England. It became most famous during the "Madchester" years of the late 1980s and early 1990s; during the 1990s it was labelled the most famous club in the world by Newsweek magazine. The Haçienda opened in 1982. The Haçienda is associated with the rise of acid house and rave music and created a scene documented in film and literature.

""""Hooky published his very well recieved second book "Unknown Pleasures - Inside Joy Division" in October 2012, following up his first, the critically acclaimed "How Not To Run A Club" about his Hacienda business years.

In 2014 Peter Hook & The Light announced their first ever live shows in China and Hong Kong. On the 29th & 30th of March 2014 Hooky and his band performed Joy Division's 'Unknown Pleasures' and 'Closer' live in Beijing and Shanghai.  Then performed  at the Star Hall, Hong Kong.

Prior to their 18 date tour of the United States and Canada in November 2014, Peter Hook & The Light returned to South America for a string of dates performing both Joy Division albums alongside New Order materials on most of the dates. In December they return to the UK before setting off to Australia and New Zealand.. These guys love to play!

We are delighted to see Hooky and the Light on tour, an inspiration to us in music and proudly exporting the Mancunian passion. Playing us the music we love around the globe.

To be on the boards on tour with Dave Potts, Jack and Hooky is a pleasure, a real JOYO.
